Memorial Day 2025 is a time to reflect and honor America's military heroes. On May 26, 2025, Tarrytown will celebrate the day with floats on the river and community gatherings in its beautiful parks. Whether you'll be visiting this charming town by yourself or with family, here are several locations in the area you must visit.

Playland Amusement Park

As Memorial Day 2025 approaches, Playland Amusement Park in Rye prepares for its highly anticipated opening. The park features several pulse-pounding roller coaster rides, such as the Dragon Coaster, Dragon's Den, and Playland Arcade. Many of these rides will appeal to adrenaline junkies who have seen it all but still crave the next generation of entertainment experiences.

The park's stunning lake views and well-maintained gardens only enhance its appeal, making it an ideal destination for you and your family. And if all you're seeking is solace in a relaxing environment, a stroll along the Playland Boardwalk will do the trick.

The management of Playland plans to make the amusement park accessible to all. Thus, they're lowering the parking fee to $10, and entrance to the park will be free over the Memorial Day weekend. To reach Playland Amusement Park from The Sleepy Hollow Hotel, we recommend you hail a ride since this is the quickest way to get there. It will only be a 22-minute trip along the I-287 E towards Rye.

Patriots Park

Patriots Park is a public park between the borders of Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown. The park commemorates the nation's rich history and founding principles while serving as a poignant reminder of the struggle for freedom. The American Civil War extensively explored and tested this issue.

It features several memorials and museums focusing exclusively on the struggle for independence by brave Americans. The Christopher Columbus Memorial is also located here and is an additional reason to visit the park to view the statue of the world-renowned explorer and historic figure. Unsurprisingly, the park has become popular with tourists, especially during Memorial Day 2025, when Americans honor those who bravely sacrificed their lives for freedom.

The local governing body regularly hosts a ceremony here at 10:00 am. However, the ceremony will only be held under favorable weather conditions, so check the weather report before heading out. It's a 10-minute trip to Patriots Park if you hail a ride from The Sleepy Hollow Hotel and take the South Broadway route.

The Sailhouse

If you experience adverse weather conditions during your stay in Tarrytown, visiting a park isn't a good idea. Fortunately, there's a top restaurant in the area to help you make the most of the Memorial Day weekend if it's rainy. The Sailhouse is a New-American restaurant and bar overlooking the Hudson River, with indoor and outdoor dining areas. And if you dine indoors, you'll undoubtedly enjoy the restaurant's relaxed ambiance and cool nautical aesthetic.

The restaurant has earned its reputation for its well-organized holiday and private events, delicious dishes, and unforgettable cocktails. So, make the most of Memorial Day 2025 by ordering a few house specialties, such as the burrata salad, fried calamari, and lobster ravioli. Then, finish celebrations with a drink in hand like a Chardonnay, Kona Big Wave, or Pacifico.

To secure a table for this momentous occasion, it's best to place your reservation beforehand. The quickest way to reach The Sailhouse from The Sleepy Hollow Hotel is to hail a ride and take South Broadway. It's a 12-minute ride to the restaurant, conveniently located next to Losee Park and Tarrytown Marina.

Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge

One of the most impressive landmarks in Tarrytown is the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. This remarkable architectural feat embodies the vision and innovative spirit of New Yorkers. Inaugurated in 2018, the bridge connects Rockland and Westchester, significantly enhancing traffic flow between these two vibrant counties. While it looks impressive during the daytime, it comes alive at night thanks to its colorful LED lights, lighting up its facade beautifully.

Whether you plan to cross the bridge during the day or evening, we recommend you walk or cycle across its path. This path spans 3.6 miles and offers several public artworks and scenic waterfront views. The bridge is also very close to The Sleepy Hollow Hotel, and it's only a 12-minute walk along South Broadway to reach the Westchester landing of the bridge.

The Sleepy Hollow Hotel

There's no better way to end your outing in Tarrytown during the Memorial Day weekend than by visiting or staying at The Sleepy Hollow Hotel. Here, you'll experience the comfort of our cozy hotel, complete with its phenomenal amenities. Consider dining at our renowned kosher restaurant, Hudson Bistro, where you can enjoy a delicious meal by the fireplace.
